Delayed Opening Information

In the event of inclement weather, the Lynbrook Public Schools may have a two-hour delayed opening. A delayed opening might occur when it is obvious that a storm has ended or is about to end, the streets have not yet been satisfactorily cleared, but the roads should be safe for travel within a few hours. By delaying the opening of school by two hours, we would be able to provide instruction to our students rather than close school for the entire day. In a delayed opening, all schools would simply open exactly two hours after they would normally open. Additionally, in-district and out-of-district students who receive bus transportation would be picked up two hours later than they usually are. All morning clubs, extra help and other morning activities will be cancelled when there is a delayed opening. Parents are advised to watch for the buses, as road conditions could cause buses to arrive earlier or later than expected. Afternoon dismissals and bus schedules beyond the first two hours of the day would remain unchanged.
