The Lynbrook community took time during the April 16 board of education meeting to applaud Jack Small, who will retire with a 50-year coaching legacy.
Mr. Small coached his final game in Lynbrook on March 19, for which the eighth-grade girls basketball team pulled a win. Mr. Small began his coaching career in 1974 and has coached varsity football, varsity softball, boys and girls basketball and boys and girls soccer for Lynbrook Schools. During the meeting, Superintendent Dr. Paul Lynch described Mr. Small as an emblematic Lynbrook Owl.
