Waverly Park Drama Club meets composer of 'Bounce! A New Musical'

Waverly Park Drama Club students had a special virtual visit on Feb. 2, when they met with Denver Casado, the composer of this year’s production, Bounce! A New Musical. Casado spoke with the cast about his creative process, explaining how each song was shaped around the characters’ personalities.
He also revealed a fun behind‑the‑scenes detail: the characters in Bounce! were inspired by classic figures from Winnie the Pooh. One example he shared was the character Low — an intelligent, glasses‑wearing figure whose name is actually an anagram of “Owl.”
The conversation left students energized and newly connected to the story they’ll bring to the stage. The Drama Club will perform “Bounce! on Thursday, Feb. 12 at 7 p.m. in the Waverly Park Gym.
