How to Use PowerSchool Effectively

PowerSchool is the district’s secure student information system, allowing families to view important academic and attendance information in real time. Follow the steps below to stay connected to your child’s progress.

    1. Visit the district’s PowerSchool Parent Portal: Lynbrook PowerSchool Login

    2. Enter your Username and Password.

      • If you do not have an account, click “Create Account” and follow the prompts to set up your credentials.

    3. Once logged in, you’ll see the Dashboard with your child’s name(s) listed at the top of the screen.

    Tip: Bookmark the page or download the PowerSchool Mobile App for quick access (District Code: DLQM).

    1. From the left menu, select Attendance.

    2. Daily and class-by-class attendance appears with symbols indicating absences, tardies, or present days.

    3. Hover or tap on a date to see more details.

    Tip: Contact your child’s school if you notice any discrepancies in attendance.

    1. Choose Grades and Attendance from the left menu.

    2. You’ll see current courses, teachers, and grades for each marking period.

    3. Click on a grade to view individual assignments, scores, and teacher comments.

    4. Use the Email Notification feature to receive automatic updates about grades or attendance changes.

    Tip: Grades update as teachers post new assignments, so check back regularly for the most accurate information.

    • School Bulletin: Read announcements and upcoming events.

    • Class Registration: Review and select courses when registration opens.

    • Email Notifications: Set up automatic weekly progress summaries.

    • PowerSchool Mobile App: Receive push notifications for new grades or attendance updates.

Viewing & Printing Report Cards

The guides within this section will help you access and print your child's report cards using PowerSchool's Parent Portal and Mobile App.

  • Accessing Report Cards via PowerSchool Parent Portal (Web Browser)

    Step 1: Log In to the Parent Portal

    1. Open your web browser (Chrome, Safari, Firefox, or Edge)
    2. Go to: Lynbrook PowerSchool Parent Portal
    3. Click on the "Sign In" button

    1. Enter your Username (provided by the district)
    2. Enter your Password
    3. Click "Sign In"

    Tip: If you've forgotten your username or password, click "Forgot Username or Password?" and follow the prompts.


    Step 2: Navigate to Report Cards

    Once logged in, you'll see your PowerSchool Parent Portal dashboard.

    1. Look at the left-side navigation menu
    2. Click on "Reports" or "Report Cards" (depending on your district's configuration)

    If you have multiple children: You'll see a drop-down menu at the top of the page with your children's names. Select the child whose report card you want to view.


    Step 3: View Report Cards

    1. In the Reports section, you'll see a list of available report cards organized by date/marking period
    2. Click on the report card you want to view (e.g., "Quarter 1 Report Card" or "Semester 1 Report Card")
    3. The report card will open in a new window or display on the screen

    Step 4: Print or Download Report Cards from the Parent Portal

    To Print:

    1. With the report card open, click the "Print" button (usually at the top of the report)
      • OR right-click anywhere on the report and select "Print"
      • OR use the keyboard shortcut: Ctrl+P (Windows) or Command+P (Mac)
    2. Select your printer from the printer list
    3. Adjust print settings if needed (orientation, color, pages)
    4. Click "Print"

    To Download as PDF:

    1. Follow the print steps above, but instead of selecting a physical printer:
    2. Choose "Save as PDF" or "Microsoft Print to PDF" from the printer dropdown
    3. Click "Print" or "Save"
    4. Choose where you want to save the file on your computer
    5. Click "Save"
  • Accessing Report Cards via PowerSchool Mobile App

    Step 1: Download and Install the PowerSchool Mobile App

    1. Open the App Store (iPhone/iPad) or Google Play Store (Android)
    2. Search for "PowerSchool Mobile"
    3. Download and install the official PowerSchool app (look for the blue icon with a white "P")

    Step 2: Log In to the Mobile App

    1. Open the PowerSchool Mobile app
    2. The first time you open the app, tap "Sign In" or "Get Started"
    3. Enter your district's PowerSchool URL: lynbrookschools.powerschool.com
      • Note: You may not need to enter the full "https://" or "/public/home.html" portion
    4. Tap "Next" or "Continue"
    1. Enter your Username and Password (same credentials as the Parent Portal)
    2. Tap "Sign In"

    Step 3: Navigate to Report Cards in the Mobile App

    1. Once logged in, you'll see the app's home screen with your child's information
    2. If you have multiple children, tap the student name at the top to switch between children
    1. Tap the menu icon (three horizontal lines, usually in the top-left corner)
    2. Select "Report Cards" from the menu

    Step 4: View Report Cards on Mobile

    1. You'll see a list of available report cards by marking period
    2. Tap on the report card you want to view
    3. The report card will open and display on your screen
    4. Scroll down to view all sections of the report card

    Step 5: Share or Print Report Cards from Mobile App

    To Share or Save:

    1. With the report card open, look for the share icon (usually a square with an arrow pointing up on iPhone, or three connected dots on Android)
    2. Tap the share icon
    3. Options may include:
      • Save to Files (iPhone)
      • Download (Android)
      • Email
      • Print
      • Share to other apps

    To Print from Mobile:

    1. Tap the share icon
    2. Select "Print"
    3. Select an available printer (must be AirPrint-compatible for iPhone or connected to your Android device)
    4. Adjust settings if needed
    5. Tap "Print"

    Note: For the best printing experience, we recommend using the Parent Portal on a computer rather than the mobile app.

  • Problem: I forgot my username or password

    Solution:

    • On the Parent Portal login page, click "Forgot Username or Password?"
    • Follow the prompts to receive recovery information via email
    • If you continue to have trouble, contact Lynbrook Public Schools main office for assistance

    Problem: I don't see any report cards listed

    Solution:

    • Report cards are typically published at the end of each marking period
    • Check with your child's school to confirm when report cards are released
    • Make sure you've selected the correct student if you have multiple children
    • Try logging out and logging back in

    Problem: The report card won't open or display correctly

    Solution:

    • Make sure you're using an updated web browser (Chrome, Safari, Firefox, or Edge)
    • Clear your browser's cache and cookies
    • Try using a different browser
    • Disable browser pop-up blockers temporarily
    • On mobile, ensure your PowerSchool Mobile app is updated to the latest version

    Problem: I can't print the report card

    Solution:

    • Make sure your printer is turned on and connected to your computer or network
    • Try downloading as a PDF first, then print the PDF
    • Check your browser's print preview to ensure the report card is formatting correctly
    • Adjust page orientation to Landscape if the report card appears cut off

    Problem: I never received login credentials

    Solution:

    • Contact your child's school office to request PowerSchool Parent Portal access
    • You'll need to verify your identity and relationship to the student
    • The school will provide you with a username and temporary password
  • Bookmark the login page: Save Lynbrook PowerSchool Parent Portal to your browser favorites for quick access

    Enable notifications: In the mobile app settings, turn on notifications to receive alerts about new grades and report cards

    Check regularly: PowerSchool is updated throughout the marking period, so you can monitor your child's progress before report cards are issued

    Keep login information secure: Store your credentials in a safe place and don't share them with your child
