Lynbrook Public Schools Kindergarten Registration

The Lynbrook Public Schools districtwide kindergarten registration for the 2026–2027 school year will open online beginning December 8, 2025. Families must complete the online registration process and upload all required documents prior to scheduling kindergarten screening appointments, which will take place in May 2026. Please note that there will be no onsite registration appointments.

Eligibility

Children are eligible to enter kindergarten if they reside within the Lynbrook Union Free School District and will be five years old on or before December 1, 2026.

Registration Information

All age-eligible children must register online in order to be enrolled in kindergarten for the 2026–2027 school year. Please ensure that all names are spelled and capitalized correctly, as this information is imported directly into PowerSchool.

After online registration is completed and all documents are uploaded, families will receive information concerning a May 2026 screening appointment.

Documents Required for Verification

The district offers flexibility in the types of documents it can accept for registration, and notarization of documents is not required.

• Proof of Student’s Birth (ONE): Original Birth Certificate, Passport, or Court-Signed Guardianship Papers
• Parent/Guardian Identification (ONE): NYS Driver’s License, Passport, Alien Registration Card, or Original Birth Certificate with Court-Signed Guardianship Papers (if applicable)
• Proof of Residency:
  • Primary Proof (Homeowners): Tax Receipt indicating SD #20 & Homeowner Affidavit
  • Primary Proof (Renters): Lease, Landlord Affidavit, Tax Receipt indicating SD #20, Renter/Non-Homeowner Affidavit & Rent Receipt

Note: All parents/guardians must submit a current School District #20 tax bill from the Town of Hempstead (200 N. Franklin Street, Hempstead, NY 11550, 516-538-1500).

• Secondary Proof of Residency (Any TWO): For example: W-2 Form, Voter Registration Card, Bank Statements, Utility Bills (excluding telephone bills), Car Registration

• Health Documentation (BOTH): Immunization Record (Physician’s report) and Most Recent Physical Exam (Physician’s report)
• Special Education (if applicable): Current IEP

Prueba de residencia:

• Prueba principal (propietarios): Recibo de impuestos que indica SD #20 y declaración jurada de propietario
• Prueba principal (inquilinos): Contrato de arrendamiento, declaración jurada del arrendador, recibo fiscal indicando SD #20, declaración jurada de inquilino/no propietario y recibo de alquiler

Nota: Todos los padres/tutores deben presentar una factura fiscal de impuestos del Distrito Escolar #20 del Ayuntamiento de Hempstead (200 N. Franklin Street, Hempstead, NY 11550, 516-538-1500).
