‘X’ marks the spot for fun at Lynbrook Summer Playground Pirate Day

Pirate hats and treasure maps signaled a day of adventure in the Lynbrook School District’s Summer Playground program as children celebrated a swashbuckling Pirate Day on July 17 filled with creativity and community spirit.
The Summer Playground program – hosted at Marion Street Elementary School and North Middle School – welcomes all Lynbrook Schools students and Village of Lynbrook children entering kindergarten through eighth grade. Throughout the day, students embraced the pirate theme with eyepatches and costumes and enjoyed games and crafts. Older student volunteers helped lead festivities, creating meaningful connections across grade levels.
One of the day's highlights were lively pirate parades, where students proudly marched in their pirate gear while first and second-grade students lined the hallways to cheer them on. The parades filled Marion Street and North Middle with smiles, applause and plenty of "ahoys.”
