IS MY CHILD ELIGIBLE TO ATTEND KINDERGARTEN?

A child may begin kindergarten in September if he or she will be 5 years old on or before December 1. Proof of age must be presented upon registration. A birth certificate or passport is acceptable proof of age.

WHEN AND WHERE WILL KINDERGARTEN REGISTRATION TAKE PLACE?

Kindergarten registration is held at the Administration Building in January and February of the year prior to entrance. Dates are published in advance in the local newspapers, as well as in the Lynbrook School News and at www.lynbrookschools.org. Registration also takes place at the Central Registrar in the Atlantic Avenue Building by appointment.

WHAT DOCUMENTS ARE NEEDED FOR REGISTRATION?

Parents/guardians are required to present a birth certificate at the time of registration. For children who are not U.S. citizens, a passport is acceptable. All documents should be in English.

Proof of residence, a School District #20 tax bill, must be presented at time of registration along with various other document available in the registration packet.

It is mandatory that all children have a complete physical examination before September. The school district requires proof of these examinations, proof of immunization and the medical history of each child.

HOW CAN I CHANGE MY CURRENT ADDRESS?

If you are planning to move or have moved from your current Lynbrook District 20 residence, you need to complete the change of address form.

Either mail the completed forms and completed documents to the Administration Building, Registrar Office at 111 Atlantic Avenue, Lynbrook, NY 11563 or deliver the paperwork in the locked mailbox located in front of the Administration Building.

HOW CAN I RE-REGISTER MY CHILD? (Current grades 5 and 8)

If you need to re-register your child for school, please download the appropriate packet, complete the forms, and gather all necessary documents.

Mail the re-registration paperwork to your child’s current school.

HOW CAN I WITHDRAW MY CHILD FROM THE LYNBROOK PUBLIC SCHOOLS?

If you need to withdraw your child from school, please download the withdrawal form and follow the instructions on the form.
