The Lynbrook School District’s Department of Fine and Performing Arts offers a comprehensive K-12 curriculum for students in music and the visual arts. The overriding objective of the program is focused on providing instruction for all students in these areas whether the goal is arts as a vocation, an avocation, or to enhance our students aural and visual awareness and appreciation of the arts.

With the strong support of our community, the Board of Education and Central Administration we are proud to have earned the distinction of Best Communities for Music Education by the NAMM Foundation once again this year. Together with an award winning Fine Arts program Lynbrook Schools continues to provide our students with exceptional experiences in the arts.

This website you will provide you with ongoing information regarding the art, music and theater programs including a calendar of events, important news and announcements, student achievements and needed forms and documents regarding many aspects of the program.

Department Overview

It has long been held that the arts are a critically important means for developing both the complex and subtle aspects of the mind and providing unique experiences one can receive from no other source. When brought from the educational periphery to the core of learning, the arts make a significant contribution to a child’s holistic education allowing each to express their personal creativity and experience joys of self-expression which significantly enrich their lives.

Throughout their scholastic career, students enrolled in the district’s arts programs have the opportunity to explore and develop their talents in the many fine art classes offered; perform in a variety of bands, orchestras and choruses and afford themselves the opportunity to be a part of the musical theater and play productions each school presents annually. In addition, Lynbrook High School has extremely active and well-recognized chapters of both the National Art Honor Society and the Tri-M Music Honor Societies which present events and perform throughout the year.
