Lynbrook High School is proud to announce that senior Charisse Cueto was named a Semifinalist in the prestigious 2025 National Merit Scholarship Program.
Cueto excels academically at Lynbrook High School, namely in her favorite subjects of math and computer science. As a member of the LHS mathletes team and the Nassau County Interscholastic Math League, she competes at both the local and county levels. Her interest in coding brought her to the robotics team and the drone soccer team, which participate in regular competitions. She also helps younger peers through tutoring for the SAT. Among her biggest influences at LHS are Mrs. Mitchell, her 10th grade English teacher, and Mr. Franklin, her mathletes coach.
In this year’s 70th annual National Merit Scholarship Program, more than 16,000 academically talented high school seniors from across the nation were chosen as Semifinalists for their outstanding academic records and their Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT) scores. Semifinalists will continue in the competition to vie for 6,870 National Merit Scholarships worth a total of nearly $26 million.
“Being named a National Merit Scholarship Semifinalist is such an honor,” said Principal Matthew Sarosy, “and Charisse embodies all that it takes to receive such a distinction.”
