Students at West End Elementary School in the Lynbrook School District ushered in the Year of the Snake during a festive Lunar New Year parade on Jan. 28.

Children excitedly lined the halls with their individually crafted lanterns, signs and crowns denoting 2025 as the Year of the Snake. Craft paper dragons held by peers soared down the halls to loud applause. Those in the parade and on the sidelines were thrilled to see one another and offer high-fives. In class, students learned about the significance of the holiday and its traditions, which is celebrated by billions around the globe.
